Bergische University Wuppertal, Germany (BUW)
The Physical Chemistry Group of the Bergische Universität Wuppertal (BUW) has more than 30 years specialist knowledge in the investigation of atmospheric gas phase photo-oxidation processes. Since 15 years the activities of the department have been extended to include the investigation of atmospherically relevant heterogeneous reactions, modelling, development of new instrumentation and field measurements. The organisation now avails of staff processing expertise in all of these areas. The organisation was heavily involved in the building of the EUPHORE photoreactor in Valencia. The department has co-ordinated the German tropospheric ozone research program TFS-LT3 and organized the BERLIOZ field campaign in Berlin in the summer of 1998. The department has also participated successfully and contributed substantially to numerous European Commission funded projects such as FORMONA, NITROCAT, IALSI and EUROCHAMP 1+2.
