The PhotoPaq participants represent a competent interdisciplinary team of chemists, physicists, analysts, reflecting the nature of this demonstration project which lies at the intersection of several disciplines. The CNRS at Lyon coordinates the PhotoPaq initiative.
PhotoPaq aims at demonstrating the effectiveness of photocatalytic construction materials as a possible air pollution abatement technique. Achieving such a demonstration requires a large set of capabilities and instrumentation which is typically not available, neither at a single institution, nor in single EU countries (for the most advanced techniques). As a consequence, the PhotoPaq consortium consists of 7 beneficiaries which correspond to the lowest possible size still achieving a critical size allowing the demonstration to be achieved with a very high level of confidence.
The strategy adopted to achieve PhotoPAQ’s goals is to interconnect 10 actions that support each other. Each action represents an essential contribution to the overall demonstration of the local air quality improvement. The project progress from preparatory actions, to field studies to wide dissemination of the acquired demonstration. Each action, led by one partner, will involve contributions from several others beneficiaries. Field experiments will gather together all the available skills within PhotoPAQ.
